Temporary Services- LIbrary Project

Temporary Services is a artist/Tactical media group from Chicago. They did this gorilla art show in the Harold Washington Library in Chicago where they covertly placed a bunch of handmade zines and artist books onto the shelves. You can read more about it/ read the exhibition guide/zine by following the link below.

Map of the Internet

Archaic Map of the Internet

Google is God

April what the fuck is a twitter?
You so trendy gurllll.

Screenprint images of Google header.
Take names of website names LITERALLY.

Stumbleupon collage stumbleupon.
Stumbled environment.

Search engines as race cars.
WACKY RACESSSSSSS.

Youtube becomes YOURtube.

Nate got a web OF THE WEB.

Chatroulette makes a lot of penises happen.

Does that sound reasonable?
We gotta make it good.

Jane Hammond.

Jane Hammond
is an artist who is into language and appropriated imagery and thus a good person to check out whilst working on the MAKE-READY project. In her prints and paintings she combines and layers images from different sources creating visual and conceptual dialogue between them.

Hammond uses a lot of imagery from science manuals, old encyclopedias and the like which will most likely interest some of you from what I've seen of your work so far (I'm looking at Brittany, April and Alicia specifically, but there are probably others.)

Start drawing THE INTERNET.

We came to a vote, and have dedicated our semester to the perilous task of documenting, drawing, deconstructing, elucidating, and screen printing to the entire internet in a single zine. Ideas forthcoming. (Forthcoming because you will post them. please?)

Combat Paper This Tuesday

Combat Paper will be at the Niagara County Community College this Tuesday and you should all come by. They collaborate with veterans to make art and help them cope with life after combat by making paper from scraps of their old uniforms. They came to talk to Adele's Topics in Print class last year and they seemed like really great people. You guys should check out their site and come on Tuesday. Here's the info Adele Henderson sent me:

We will be carpooling from the printmaking labs on Tuesday (next week) at 5:45. I imagine we will return to campus by 8:30 or 9PM. All are welcome. Ask your students to let me know if they want to join us, and if they need a ride or can drive. It is about 30 minutes (maybe less) from UB. They can email me at adeleh@buffalo.edu

Three of the Combat Paper folks will be visiting artists in residence at UB during the week of Feb. 7th. If you or any of your students are interested in getting involved with their residencies, please contact me.

HELLO STUDENTS!

Just wanted to post a few links to a couple of the artists I mentioned in class on Wednesday.
Kara Walker
The link below leads to the art21 website and so there are some interviews and videos as well. They aren't really about her screen prints, but they are still interesting.
